We joined with Yoga Soul for India

Last month we came together with one of our favourite Manchester studios - Yoga Soul to close our month of MANifesto and host a special 90 minute long Yin Yoga event raising money for the crisis in India, the birthplace of the practise.

All donations were given to the British Asian Trust for their Oxygen for India Emergency Appeal, helping those who require oxygen treatment or emergency support during the huge surge in coronavirus cases in India, those funds also went toward helping the poorest people in South Asia rebuild their lives following the pandemic.

The Yin class was our second event in May, the first raised money for men's mental health charity Andy's Mans Club, and is part of our MANifesto month where we showcased male teachers to encourage more beginners and male students, who are often underrepresented in yoga classes, to take to the mat.

Yin Yoga is a practise for every ability, which is why the class was encouraged for everyone from beginners to advanced yoga practitioners to come and take part. In Yin Yoga those in the class will be guided to hold the poses for longer enabling the deeper tissues in the body to feel the benefit, targeting the fascia networks of the body helping to improve energy and revitalising both the emotional and physical body.

The practise was led by Yoga Soul Studio owner Samuel Nwokeka who has a huge passion for yoga and trainer for his teacher training in Goa, India.

We felt that coming together for India and hosting such a special practise is the right thing to do, any donation big or small is welcome. Our aim is to make yoga more accessible to people who may not have tried it before, by hosting donation based events we are not only allowing people to try yoga for a lower cost but we are raising money where we can for charitable causes. We want everyone to try yoga as it's a practise that is not just physically nourishing but emotionally too.

Last month was our first of many months where we introduced free events open to those with an open mind and open heart, who either love yoga already or want to give it a go.

Next Monday 21st June at 12pm we are giving our Instagram to Manchester teacher Yoga with Briony who is doing a live class on our page. Follow us on Instagram to make sure you don't miss out.
